There are three essentials to making a good movie, and most can’t seem to get any of them right nowadays. These are a good story, recording on film, and natural and tungsten lighting (no fluorescent or HMI & definitely no LED). Extra points for analog sound and full analog postproduction.
The camera equipment for recording motion pictures is generally on a rental basis. The following are the main options for making a 35mm film. The traditional formats, and those that allow contact print postproduction and leave room for the soundtrack, are 4-perf 35mm Academy (1.37:1), 4-perf 35mm Academy Widescreen (1.85:1), and 4-perf 35mm Anamorphic (2.35:1).
